Operates steel-wheel and/or rubber-tired compaction rollers used in the construction of highways, city and county streets, airport runways, parking lots, and similar excavation, utility and construction projects
Main Responsibilities
- Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
- Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
- Observes safety procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials accurately
- Operate heavy equipment, including, but not limited to, steel-drum rollers, rubber-tire rollers, and other mobile equipment used in completion of construction projects
- Operate other tools and equipment as required for assigned tasks
- Perform minor equipment maintenance inspections such as greasing, checking oil and fluids
- Drive company vehicles to worksites and company locations when authorized
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver\'s license with ability to maintain a clean driving history required
Skills
- Experience and/or training in operation of heavy equipment operation preferred
- Ability to read and interpret documents, i.e., safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Physical Requirements
- Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
- Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
- Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device
- Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear), and perform tasks requiring visual acuity
- Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Frequent exposure to loud noise, and work around heavy machinery and mobile construction equipment
- Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
- Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
- Occasionally exposed to working from high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock
- Regularly required to work from a seated position operating equipment for long periods
