Assists in tasks associated with concrete finishing such as smoothing and finishing surfaces on poured concrete and operating a variety of hand and power tools
Main Responsibilities
- Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
- Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
- Observe safety procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials properly
- Signals concrete deliverer to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete
- Moves discharge chute of truck to direct concrete into forms
- Spreads concrete into inaccessible sections of forms with rake or shovel
- Molds expansion joints and edges
- Sprinkles colored stone chips, powdered steel, or coloring powder on concrete to produce prescribed finish
- Operate a variety of equipment including trucks, backhoes, air compressors, hydro hammers, jackhammers, pumps, loaders, concrete saws and mixers, hammer drills, generators and hand tools, and equipment
- Directs subgrade work, mixing of concrete, and setting of forms
- Breaks up and repairs old concrete surfaces
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver\'s license and ability to maintain a clean motor vehicle record required
Skills
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in concrete finishing preferred
Physical Requirements
- Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
- Occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
- Regularly required to stand; walk across uneven terrain; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device
- Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear), and perform tasks requiring visual acuity
- Frequent exposure to loud noise
- Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
- Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
- Required to work varying hours, including nights/weekends, and overnight travel may be required
