Oversee daily operations to meet safety, quality, and production targets. Train and develop employees, maintain relationships with customers and suppliers, manage vehicle and equipment maintenance, and oversee budget and capital expenditures.

Main Responsibilities

  • Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
  • Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies 
  • Actively support and lead Company initiatives related to safety, quality, and employee development
  •  Effectively coordinate operations to ensure safety, regulatory, quality, and production targets are met
  • Coordinate training, coaching and development of employees to perform at their highest level
  • Maintain effective relationships with customers, suppliers, and Company business groups
  • Oversee vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair schedules, including preventative maintenance intervals in order to drive efficiency and reduce operational costs
  • Forecast and budget for short and long-term needs of shop operations
  • Review operating costs and propose potential areas of cost reduction
  • Maintain maintenance budget for assigned area(s); provide information and reports to management related to financial performance of shop operations
  • Coordinate year-end inventory analysis and develop waste factors and standard inventory cost 
  • Work closely with equipment management team regarding equipment condition; make recommendations for repair and/or replacement of components and equipment
  • Oversee administrative staff responsible for maintaining shop records
  • Manage capital expenditures
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned

Education

  • Degree from a vocational school, and/or degree in business administration, related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience; relevant maintenance certifications a plus
  • Valid drivers’ license and ability to maintain a clean motor vehicle record required; commercial license a plus

Skills

  • 5+ years of experience working in a heavy equipment maintenance and repair environment
  • 2+ years of experience in a supervisory role preferred
  • Solid digital literacy, including use of MS Office products, work order, budgeting, and inventory control systems 
  • Self-directed, goal-oriented, and highly motivated, requiring minimal direct guidance
  • Ability to lead and motivate others with demonstrated experience effectively managing a team
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, problem-solve, and work under consistent pressure of deadlines

Physical Requirements

  • Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
  • Occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
  • Regularly required to work while sitting for long periods in an office environment
  • Regularly required to stand; walk across uneven terrain; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Regularly exposed to a shop environment and work near moving mechanical parts and heavy machinery, loud noises, dust, fuel/oil, and other chemicals
  • Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device
  • Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear), and perform tasks requiring visual acuity
  • Occasionally required to work from heights
