Truck Driver

Operates a commercial vehicle to transport aggregate materials (soil, sand, gravel, asphalt, etc.) to and from specified destinations; performs other related duties as assigned in support of material production and construction operations.
Main Responsibilities
- Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
- Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
- Perform pre- and post-trip safety inspections on truck to ensure vehicle operation safety
- Slump loads to specifications/requirements
- Ensure safe operation of vehicle; document and report required maintenance and/or repair to maintenance team
- Assemble chutes and attach to truck; operate controls on truck to release concrete down truck chute into wheelbarrow or other conveying container or directly into area to be poured with concrete
- Follow procedures to safely operate vehicle, including securing cargo before, during, and after transit, and positioning blocks as required
- Perform daily a pre and post-trip safety check on equipment and truck to assure a safe vehicle; document any maintenance that may be required
- Keep a clean vehicle, including vehicle exterior and interior of operator cab
- May operate other equipment such as loaders, skid steers, forklifts, and dump trucks
- Safely operate assigned vehicle(s); may be required to operate multiple types of vehicles and vehicle/trailer combinations involved in operations
- May spray surfaces of truck with protective/cleaning compound to prevent adhering of concrete
- Observe all OSHA, FMCSA, and other industry regulations, company safety policies, and general rules of the road
- Assist in loading and unloading of materials in truck/trailer bed; may include operation of heavy equipment (including but not limited to a skid steer, loader, or similar)
- Prepare bill of lading and/or similar documentation for loads transported
- Maintain accurate documentation related to job assignments as required by the Company
- Maintain regular contact with supervisor to receive pick-up and delivery instructions
- Maintain driver logs according to state and federal regulations
- Perform other projects and duties related to role as assigned
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Class B CDL with Air Brakes and clean driving history
Skills
- 2 or more years of commercial driving experience preferred; construction experience and experience operating multiple types of vehicles/combinations highly preferred
- Prior experience in construction or similar industry a plus
- Prior experience working with concrete production, construction, and/or related field preferred
- Ability to operate different commercial vehicles, including but not limited to belly dumps, side dumps, end dumps, water trucks, etc.
- Ability to maintain a clean driving record and compliance with applicable FMCSA CDL driver requirements
- Ability to read, write, and understand basic documents
- Ability to interact on a professional level with internal and external customers and other team members
- Ability to read and write, and understand English
Physical Requirements
- Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
- Occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
- Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device
- Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear), and perform tasks requiring visual acuity
- Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Frequent exposure to loud noise, and work around heavy machinery and mobile construction equipment
- Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
- Required to work from a seated position driving a commercial vehicle for long periods
- Regularly required to climb in and out of vehicles and/or equipment
- Occasional travel with overnight stays away from home may be required
