Carries out manual tasks which contribute to the carrying out of the project for their professional specialty (road, pipelines, rail, etc.) in observance of the safety guidelines
This position requires out of state travel.
Candidates with CDL a plus.
Main Responsibilities
- Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
- Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
- Discuss traffic routing plans, type and location of control points with supervisor
- Distribute traffic control signs and markers along site in designated pattern
- Direct movement of traffic through site, using, signs, hands and flag signals
- Warn construction works when approaching vehicle fails to heed signals to prevent accident and injury to workers
- Inform drivers of detour routes through construction sites
- Give hand marker to last driver in line up of one-way traffic for flagger at opposite end of site, signaling clearance for reverse flow of traffic
- May occasionally operate pilot car at construction site
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Skills
- Flagging/traffic control experience preferred
- Class A CDL preferred
Physical Requirements
- Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
- Occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 25 pounds with or without assistance
- Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device
- Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear), and perform tasks requiring visual acuity
- Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
- Frequent exposure to loud noise, and work around heavy machinery and mobile construction equipment
- Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
- Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
