Responsible for daily operations of one or more commercial aggregate quarries and/or pits, including oversight of safety and supervision of employees; ensures production targets are met.

Main Responsibilities

  • Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
  • Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
  • Observe safety procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials accurately
  • Ensure safety, quality, and efficiency standards are maintained while leading operations at assigned sites to achieve customer satisfaction.
  • Manage the work environment to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, regulatory, and production targets.
  • Maintain continual compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and EPA regulations at assigned locations.
  • Lead production crews to meet established business and production objectives effectively.
  • Develop strong relationships and collaborate with customers, suppliers, local communities, and government entities, as well as internal business groups.
  • Assist in hiring, training, and developing employees to enhance performance and efficiency.
  • Contribute to the development of budgets and forecasts; manage production schedules to align with site plans.
  • Review and analyze production, quality control, maintenance, and operational practices; recommend improvements to improve product quality and production efficiency.
  • Use established Key Performance Indicators to assess and manage production results at assigned sites.
  • Ensure adherence to maintenance schedules and practices to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Diagnose mechanical equipment issues and restore equipment to safe operational conditions.
  • Collaborate with the sales team and quality control to meet customer demands and efficiently manage the production and dispatch of materials.
  • Safely operate company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Actively support and lead Company initiatives.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Valid drivers’ license and ability to maintain a clean motor vehicle record required; commercial license a plus
  • MSHA certification or ability to acquire certification required

Skills

  • 5+ years of practical experience with aggregate production processes, including production plant/crushing operations required
  • 2+ years of experience leading a team required
  • Self-directed, driven by results, and highly motivated
  • Basic digital literacy using MS Office and similar programs

Physical Requirements

  • Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
  • Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
  • Regularly required to work while sitting for long periods in an office environment
  • Regularly required to stand; walk across uneven terrain; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device
  • Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear), and perform tasks requiring visual acuity
  • Frequent exposure to loud noise
  • Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
  • Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
  • Required to work varying hours, including nights/weekends, and overnight travel may be required
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration
  • Occasionally exposed to working from high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock
  • Regularly required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Travel, including overnight stays away from home may be required
