Operates a lattice and hydraulic telescoping boom-type crane, crawler-type, and/or hydraulic rough-terrain crane to hoist and move
materials, drive piling, and perform other related operations.
Main Responsibilities
- Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
- Support, promote, and practice the Company’s core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
- Observe safety procedures, report safety hazards, and use equipment and materials properly
- Safely operate cranes, heavy equipment and vehicles within scope of assigned work
- Operate crane controls, such as pedals, levers, and buttons, to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement according to written, verbal, or signal instructions
- Perform daily inspections of crane, rigging, and associated equipment; participation in critical lift planning
- Perform minor equipment maintenance, such as inspecting, lubricating, cleaning, and maintaining equipment
- Operate other tools and equipment as required for assigned tasks
- Work closely with other employees to perform a variety of tasks required to complete assigned projects
Education
- Current National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) Mobile Crane Operator Certification, or the ability to become certified required
- Valid drivers’ license with ability to maintain a clean driving history required
- Class A CDL with endorsements and valid medical card preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Skills
- Two or more years of experience in operation of fixed and mobile cranes; experience operating Lattice Boom Crawler (LBC) required; experience operating Telescopic Boom - Swing Cab (TLL) preferred
- Previous experience in bridge construction and pile driving preferred
Physical Requirements
- Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by Company safety guidelines
- Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
- Regularly required to use hands to make signal gestures, and move or manipulate objects
- Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear)
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
- Frequently required to walk across uneven terrain; sit; reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; stand/work on feet for long periods
- Frequent exposure to typical construction site conditions, including dust, loud noise, fuel, oil, chemicals, and adverse weather conditions
- Work involves varying hours, including nights/weekends; travel with overnight stays away from home required
